Why does outdoor painting have to be difficult?

Trailside Studio started when Tom took a look at Tara's outdoor painting setup.

Like many artists, she had pieced together a system that mostly worked. But painting often meant dealing with shifting supplies, an unstable palette, and the constant challenge of keeping everything organized.

Most artists simply accept those frustrations as part of painting outdoors.

Tom didn't.

As a lifelong problem solver, he started asking questions. What could be simpler? What could work better? What was getting in the way?

The answer wasn't one big breakthrough. It was a series of small improvements that gradually transformed the experience of painting outdoors.

Today, Tara doesn't have to think about her setup anymore. She can just grab her stuff and go paint.
